I’ve been meaning to add some maps to my portfolio for a while now, so thought I’d start with one of the village where I grew up. I’ve also included some images of my process.
I started with a very simple sketch that I drew on the DLR. When I got home I sketched out a few more elements that I planned to include in my map.
I then scanned this image in and build up the basic forms in Illustrator. blocking out the sections where I expected the text to lie.
Once I’d played around a bit with the composition I added the text and finally moved the finished image across to Photoshop to add the textures.
