I was asked by The Three Fishes Inn in Lancashire to paint a mural of a local walking route onto the wall of their restaurant. My film-maker brother, Alex Hyndman came along to document the project. But as this was my first mural I underestimated how long it would take to paint so he also had to get his hands dirty and help me paint the wall. Somehow between helping me with the painting he also managed to get enough footage together to make this lovely film! The Pub also includes original artwork by Rose Blake, Sarah Maycock and myself on the walls which can be seen on the film.

I worked with PickleJar Communications to illustrate a campaign for Newcastle University to help students with their journey to University. It’s called ‘On Course to Uni’ and by using facebook, twitter and tumblr they offer advice to students, answer questions and help them through exams and into university.
Prospective Newcastle students can download facebook cover photos HERE and you can find the On Course to Uni site HERE.
I haven’t blogged anything thing in a while - I’ve got a stack of stuff I keep meaning to upload when I get the chance.
Anyway here are some sheep. They’re from Lancashire!
lots more Lancashire related updates soon….
So my blog is usually just full of my work, but I though I ought to make an exception for family! My brother is a filmmaker and here’s his shiny new showreel. It’s ace! alexhyndman.co.uk
sneaky peek of a new personal project I’m working on….
I’ve been working on creating lots of stock pictures recently and here’s an Italian food illustration that’ll soon be available as a stock image.
I was recently commissioned by Scriberia to design a title banner for The Guardian & Observer’s intranet site. Above is the banner design and a few close up crops of the illustration.
It incorporates lots of different Guardian references past and present. Their Manchester roots and founder C.P.Scott are referenced as well as it’s King’s Cross offices, New York and Australian locations and printed and digital products.
Last month I was contacted by the the lovely people at The Bark Magazine who had seen my Darwin illustration and thought it would work well to accompany an article in their upcoming issue. The Article was written from the perspective of Charles Darwin’s dog - a fox terrier called Polly! I amended my original Darwin illustration to incorporate his Canine friend, which I think was probably the first time I’ve illustrated a dog!
Here’s a recent video I made with Damnfine Media for Reuters. I created the assets for the film and did the live drawing. The film is about the problems Europe is facing supporting it’s ageing population - you can watch it on the Reuters TV site here.
Below are a few of my favourite characters from the film along with Angela Merkel and David Cameron.
Here’s a new poster for The Lake Poets and The Stanhope Silver band. They’re performing together as part of Durham Brass festival. Find out more here. Should be a good ‘un - can’t beat a lovely bit of brass!
Here are some recent illustrations for Professional Manager magazine. The article I illustrated was about choosing the right type of bank for your business and the sometimes overwhelming array of financial products on offer.
My London Borough maps are now available on my online shop.
They are available as A3 prints - £15 each or all five boroughs for £59.
They’ve also been getting lots of blog love wich is ace - It was really nice to see them appear on Design Taxi, Creative Review and Bitique!
Here’s my new gig poster for the rather awesome Jeffrey Lewis and his new band with Peter Stampfel. If you wanna go then pop over to the Facebook page with more info and tickets - should be a good’un!
I’ve recently been working with The Graphical Tree to produce 5 London maps to display in their windows and covering a wall. The maps are now up in their offices (just off Great Portland Street) and although I haven’t had a chance to pop down there yet, thanks to their twitter pics, I’m pretty pleased with how they look!
The maps are of the 5 London Borough’s closest to The Graphical Tree. I chose the locations based on a few of my favorite icon buildings and places to visit in London, with a generous scattering of cafes and pubs to keep you hydrated!
I’ll pop a few bigger versions of the maps up on my Pinterest and website soon, as these are pretty small and hard to read!
